3 SEPARATE BUSINESS CASES AVAILABLE FOR BESS OPERATOR
CASE 1. PEAK-SHAVING AND VALLEY-FILLING OF PV-GENERATION FACILITY
Accumulation of PV-generated energy into the BESS during daylight hours and it’s release into the grid during evening peak hours
- Selling power at most favourable evening price
- Every day tariff spread between midday and evening hours can reach 300 EUR/MWh
- In winter season lack of generation can be compensated by the grid, increasing efficiency
CASE 2. Load-levelling (shifting) for local Grid (Arbitrage trading)
For better efficiency BESS will be used twice a day, second cycle will accumulate energy during night off-peak hours and discharge in the morning peak demand
- Spread between overnight hours and morning peak can reach 100 EUR/MWh
- Load shifting is typically not actual on Weekends
- Load shifting is critical for grid operators and extra benefits possible from the Grid
CASE 3. Accumulating cheap energy for own consumption in peak hours
Optimal solution for industrial (production) sites with high power consumption
This scenario allows to reduce your electricity bills and purchase electric power at low-cost tariffs regardless the time of real consumption
Accumulation of electric energy from the grid into the BESS during off-peak hours (midday or weekends) and its internal consumption when tariffs are high (morning & evening Peak hours)
- Up to 200EUR daily saving per each consumed MWh
- Payback period can reach 2-3 years depending on withinday spreads
- Spare source of power in case of grid black-outs (critical for production stability)
